Long before I arrived at All Saints, it was a tradition to have Widor’s famous Toccata from Symphony No. 5 played at the end of Easter services. I hopped right onto the tradition, and over the years, those attending Easter services at All Saints would tell me how important that moment was for them. “It’s Easter for me,” they would say. So even though I could have shared the playing of Widor with four different associate organists, I always took to the bench myself. 35 Easters at All Saints, each with three services = 105 Widors!
