After 26 years as director of the children’s/youth choir program at All Saints, Stephanie Mowery accepted the position of director of the Syracuse Children’s Chorus. So in spring 2011, we began the process of hiring the next musician for this important position at All Saints.

I had never led a search for such a position, but I had a pretty clear idea of how to proceed. And former Coventry Choir member, Marilyn Colyar, who had moved to the Seattle area several years prior, told me she knew just the right person. Her name was Jenny Tisi, and she sang in Seattle Pro Musica with Marilyn and had many years of elementary school music teaching experience.

The search committee review the materials of about 10 applicants for the job and brought three of them to All Saints in mid-June to conduct rehearsals of Mastersingers/Troubadours and Trouveres and to have interviews with various configurations of staff and parishioners. Jenny was the clear choice, she began work in August 2011, and has gloriously built on the strong foundation she inherited. This makes my heart glad.
