Look what I found while packing up my office. In All Saints’ early years and up to when I started in 1983, 20-minute preludes were the norm on Sunday mornings, as well as evening recitals before Evensongs. Other Sunday activities for Pasadena folks were probably few (except for picking oranges down the street). So the church provided the entertainment, even for Vespers at the Huntington Hotel.

Dear James,
After more than 25 years with you at All Saints it’s hard to pick just one event that stands out above the others, but singing on Good Friday – year in and year out – has meant so much to me. Among the most special parts of the day is the Tenebrae service. I’ll never forget the first year asked me to participate with the Renaissance Singers, I was so nervous! But each year it was such a treat to work on and perform with you the selections for that service and to sing with a chamber group. Awesome music, wonderful people, and a very moving way to end a very emotional day — thank you for sharing your talent and love of music with me. It has been a blessing!
